MapmyIndia to unveil Android based GPS navigators for cars

These Android based in-dash system will allow users to browse the internet, download apps from the Android Market.

MapmyIndia is set to launch its next generation range of in-dash touchscreen navigation systems at the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo 2012.

“These in-dash systems offer superior navigation and entertainment features and include a first for India &#151 an internet-connected in-dash system that runs on Android, that allows users to browse the internet, download apps from the Marketplace, watch live television in the car, track the location of the vehicle live sitting anywhere, and is powered by Aura – MapmyIndia’s latest full featured 3D navigation software with house-level search,” said the company in a press release.

MapmyIndia will also introduce a portable 3D navigator and entertainment device, named MapmyIndia Zx250 at the auto expo. Besides, it will release an updated version of MapmyIndia. The new MapmyIndia Maps v7.0 version has street level maps of 4000+ cities of India, 36 cities at house-level detail, 20 cities in full 3D and 6.3 million unique destinations.

Commenting upon the slew of launches at the Auto Expo, Rohan Verma, director, MapmyIndia says, “The current announcements mark the next leap in what’s available to the Indian consumer.
