LinkedIn brings in LinkedIn Lite, a faster mobile app

For now it only works in India; however, the app will be later available for 60 other countries as well.

LinkedIn, the employment-oriented social networking service has launched LinkedIn Lite, a faster and lighter version of its mobile in India. The app is available at Google Play Store for all users in India. The app size is 1MB which helps to reduce data usage by 80 percent. For now it only works in India; however, the app will be later available for 60 other countries as well.

Being the simpler version of the previous mobile app, the LinkedIn Lite loads data within a time span of five seconds, even in 2G network. Keeping in mind the user’s data allowance, this app features the LinkedIn basics like its news feed, jobs, profile, access to your LinkedIn network, messaging, notifications, and search.

“Besides providing a fast, data-light solution for professionals in slow network areas, we hope the LinkedIn Lite app will democratise access to economic opportunity,” said Akshay Kothari, LinkedIn’s country manager, India.

Earlier,Facebook had rolled out a simpler version of Messenger which was designed for areas with the slow or unstable internet.
