It seems that Google will be just another smartphone company that is following the lead of Apple when it comes to adopting a bezel-less display with a notch. A new leak has emerged online revealing the presence of top-notch, which becomes a mainstream with Apple iPhone X.
The leaked image was shared by a known tipster, Ice Universe, and it shows the front panel and a silicone case of the Pixel 3 XL. Starting with the front, one can see an iPhone X-like notch, which might house the dual-selfie camera and an earpiece. The bottom of the display houses a speaker, meaning that Google might include stereo speakers on its upcoming Pixel 3 XL.
Further, the silicone case reveals that will use a single-camera setup at the back. The cutout shows the placement of the single lens along with LED flash and probably laser AF. There is a fingerprint sensor as well. The right houses power on/off button and volume controls, while the base could house USB Type-C port.
That said, recently leaks including this one, somewhat confirm that Google will follow Apple’s lead to incorporate a top-notch on its upcoming flagship device. This is particularly sad for a company like Google to blatantly follow this odd trend. The company could learn from its arch-rival, Samsung, whose still following its own take on tall screen with Infinity Display.
Recently, we have seen Vivo taking the design innovation to next level with its Vivo NEX lineup of smartphones that manages to add full-screen display without a notch on the front. Similarly, its cousin Oppo is currently working on a full-screen smartphone, Find X, that will come with a bezel-less display minus the notch. If the rumours turn out to be true (and they have in the past) then Google Pixel 3 XL will be just another smartphone with a notch.
