Intel promises Atom Valleyview based tablets by year end

ntel has announced new 22nm Atom Bay Trail platform that will offer Valleyview mobile processors loaded media slates by year end.

PC chip maker, Intel has now announced to bring quad core Atom processor based tablets by this year end.

The processor, which has been codenamed as Valleyview, 22nm Intel Atom ‘Bay Trail’ platform. The BayTrail platform will be offered in three different processors for tablets, laptops and desktops.

The Intel Atom Valleyview mobile processors will include improved Intel Generation 7 graphics and integrated security offerings. The graphics chip would be capable enough for full 1080p decoding and also support variety of video codecs.

Talking about the new platform, Mike Bell, vice president and general manager of Mobile and Communications Group, Intel said, “With Bay Trail we will build on the work done with our current development and accelerate very quickly by leveraging Intel’s core computing strengths. We will take advantage of the tremendous software assets and expertise at our disposal to deliver the best products with best-in-class user experiences.”

By the year end, we can expect to see Intel Atom Bay Trail platform based Meda Slates from several PC makers mostly aimed at the enterprise segment. Intel is aiming to offer full day battery life, in weeks and of course, to make the slates affordable.
