Instagram has yet another new feature and has introduced Nametags – an identification card that allows people to find your profile. The scannable calling card will let users search for new people you’ve met without remembering their user handles.
The nametag contains your picture and name and can be customised with different background colours, emojis or selfies, designed in such a way that it’s made uniquely for you. Nametag is Instagram’s way of making it easy to search for a person you met in flesh and reduce the time you might take to verify if that person is the same person you met which one would do so by cross-checking their picture on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter.
In order to create your own Nametag, head on to your profile, tap the button with three lines at the top, and select “Nametag”. You can personalize your nametag by touching anywhere on the screen or tapping the button at the top to try other designs, such as various colours, emojis or selfies with different stickers.
To scan someone else’s nametag, you can either swipe right into the camera, hover over the nametag and hold down on your screen, or enter the camera by tapping “Scan a nametag” when viewing your own. Users can also share their nametags with friends through text messages and over other platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp. Sharing can be done by just pressing the arrow at the top right of a nametag.
Nametags are available now on Android and iOS, starting from today.
