Idea Cellular has expanded its 3G network to cover 236 towns across 23 districts in Gujarat and three Union Territories, the teleco said today in a press release.
The Aditya Birla Group Company has set up a network of around 1,400 3G sites to reach out to urban and semi-urban heartlands covering major industrial, agricultural and educational pockets in Gujarat. Idea’s 3G services are now available in major cities like Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot and Gandhinagar besides 231 other smaller cities and towns in Gujarat.
The mobile operator has also made Roaming services available on 3G network across 18 circles in the country. Idea’s 3G users, both prepaid and postpaid, from Gujarat can now roam seamlessly across Mumbai, Maharashtra & Goa, Karnataka, AP, Tamil Nadu & Chennai, Delhi, Haryana, UP West, UP East, Bihar, Kolkata & West Bengal, Kerala, MP, Rajasthan, North East & Assam.
Speaking about the expansion of 3G services, Arul Bright, chief operating officer — Gujarat, Idea Cellular said, “Idea’s 3G services provides swift access to entertainment, better fulfilment of information needs and a smarter way to communicate, while on the go! Idea’s 3G services offer high-end data services such as High-speed Internet browsing, video calling, mobile TV, video conferencing, Idea Mall application store and video on demand with ease and convenience of use.
To promote usage of 3G services, Idea has introduced a range of products along with a promotion offer ‘Double Dhamaka’ , wherein subscribers get double data. Prepaid subscribers can choose from a wide range of mobile internet and data card 3G packs starting from Rs 9 upto Rs 5,000. One of the most popular prepaid packs comes for Rs 595 wherein subscriber gets 2 GB data.
Idea has also introduced special packs for postpaid users at affordable pricing including money-back offer on data card. Another special feature about Idea’s 3G pricing is its time based recharges, which enables users to avail high-end data services without worrying about the volume of usage.
Idea 3G users can experience speeds upto 21.1 Mbps on 3G enabled handsets and on Idea NetSetter.
Idea has also recently launched a WiFi Router, which can connect upto 5 devices at a time. It is suitable for students, small offices and homes. The USP of this router is that it is portable and compact and multiple users can use it at the same time.
