HTC has announced a strategic partnership with and investment in Beats Electronics. Under this partnership, HTC will integrate the Beats by Dr Dre sound technology in its smartphones that are expected to be released in a month or two.
As per the official statement, HTC and Beats have been working closely and the HTC devices integrated with Beats will be available later this year.
Last year HTC had partnered with Dolby for integrating the Dolby Mobile innovations in HTC devices — both Android and Windows Phone 7. Several high-end devices featured Dolby Surround sound support for better audio on mobile devices.
Now HTC has decided to invest about $100 million in Beats Electronics. Peter Chou, HTC’s chief executive officer, said in an official statement, “Beats is an exciting brand that has been built around providing something very special, and we believe our strategic partnership will provide customers with unbeatable sound on HTC phones. We obsess over every detail of a consumer’s mobile experience and audio is a critical part of that experience.”
HTC also hinted that Beats phones and tablets will be available this fall. So it is safe to expect new HTC devices running Windows Phone 7 Mango, with Beats sound.
Other than Windows Phone 7 devices, we hope that the upcoming league of Android Ice Cream Sandwich handsets as well as tablets will feature Beats sound.
