HTC 10 starts receiving Android 8.0 Oreo update in India

The latest update bring does not only brings Android Oreo, but also adds VoLTE support for Reliance Jio.

HTC has begun the rollout of the latest Android 8.0 Oreo update for its old flagship device, the HTC 10, in India. The company has confirmed this news on its official Twitter handle.

The latest update bring does not only brings Android Oreo but also adds VoLTE support for Reliance Jio. Users can check for the latest update by going to Settings > About Phone > Software Update. With this, HTC joins the list of a handful of manufacturers who are eager to roll out Android Oreo update to their smartphones.

To recall, the brand recently rolled out the Oreo update for the unlocked variant of the HTC 10 in January this year. However, later on, the brand stopped the rollout due to some last minute bug found in the update.


The Oreo update will bring the picture-in-picture mode that lets users to two tasks simultaneously. So, for example, one can minimise a YouTube video while sending a text message or writing an email. Android Oreo has other features like including Background limits, installation of apps via APK, over 60 new emojis, notification dots, Wide-gamut colour for apps, Snoozing individual notification, Adaptive icons, Keyboard navigation, WebView enhancements and much more.



To recollect some key specifications of HTC 10, the device comes with a 5.2-inch Quad display with a screen of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, runs on Android Marshmallow operating system with HTC Sense user interface, is backed by a 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and an expandable storage slot that can hold a micro card of up to 2TB capacity.

It has a 12-megapixel rear camera that comes with Laser Autofocus, BSI sensor, Optical Image Stabilisation, f1.8 aperture, Sapphire lens, dual tone flashlight, Auto HDR, and manual mode feature. This camera can capture videos. For selfies, the phones are armed with a 5-megapixel front camera which too is an unit and has BSI sensor, f1.8 aperture, Auto HDR and Optical Image Stabilisation feature.

The HTC 10, which measures 145.9x 71.9 x 3.0 – 9.0 mm and weighs 161 grams, has NFC, 4.2,WiFi (a/b/g/n/ac), Miracast, DLNA, 3.5 mm jack and USB port.
