HCL has launched a new Android 4.0.4 based tablet called HCL Me G1, which is a 3G tablet with 9.7 inch IPS2 panel (for wider viewing angle) display with 1027×768 pixel resolution.
The tablet runs on a dual core 1.2 GHz Cortex A8 Processor coupled with Mali 500 quad core graphics processor and 1GB of DDR3 RAM. The tablet also gets 16GB of Internal Memory and also microSD card slot with up to 32GB support.
HCL Me G1 gets a 2 Megapixel rear camera and a 0.3 megapixel front camera. In terms of connectivity the tablet gets Bluetooth 4.0 which is the latest version and offers very fast connection. It also gets WiFi, 3G, HDMI and USB support.
HCL has put in a fairly large 7000 mAh battery in the tablet which should offer good battery backup. The tablet also gets a very reasonable price of Rs 14,999.
However all will depend on the actual performance of the tablet, also one of the things that might irk the buyers is the fact that the tablet doesn’t get access to Google Play Store and though HCL has put its own App store on the tablet it’s nowhere close to the kind of options Google Play store offers.
Along with the launch HCL has also announced its festival offering on Me G1 tablet as well as HCL ME Y2 and the HCL ME U1. The Y2 and U1 are powered by the latest Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS and are priced at Rs 14,999 and Rs 6,999 respectively.
The offer which is valid till November 13, 2012 will offer the buyers of HCL tablets a chance to win prizes such as a HCL ME Tablet, HCL ME Laptop and High-end Bikes.
Each buyer will also get an assured silver coin with every purchase of a HCL ME Tablet.
