Google has released yet another update for its social network Google+ or Google Plus to support the Apple iPad tablet and iPod Touch. Previously, Google Plus app was usable only on iPhone devices running iOS 4.0 or higher. Despite the new update there is no iPad specific Google+ App.
The new Google Plus app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store. To check the details visit here.
Google Plus has received a plethora of updates in the last month for both Android and iOS platforms. Obviously Android devices get the most exclusive features that may not work exactly the same on iOS devices due to the difference in platform.
However, the Google Plus App for iOS devices is only for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G so far.
With the new update rolled out, Google Plus App now supports iPod Touch and iPad as well. However, there are no special features for the iPad tablet to make the best of the bigger screen or even the front facing camera on iPad 2.
Probably a future update for Google Plus tablet might bring Hangout (group video chat) support.
Large numbers of users anticipate a faster, better and more robust mobile app for Google Plus on all mobile platforms besides Android and iOS. So far there is no hint or update on whether the Google Plus app will be available on Symbian, BlackBerry or Windows Phone platforms.
iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad users need to have an iOS 4.0 or higher update on their devices in order to use the new Google Plus app that also brings Huddle settings and Aggregated Circle notifications. Let’s hope that after iOS 5 is released, Google Plus also supports notifications.
