Google today announced the launch of physical gift cards. Simply called as Google Play Gift cards, these are available in three denominations – Rs 750, Rs 1,000 and Rs 1,500.
You can use Google Play Gift Cards to purchase apps and digital content such as books, movies , as well as in-app goods from Google Play store. As an introductory offer, Google is also offering discounts on popular games, movies and books.
Google Play Gift Cards are available for purchase at physical retailers like Spice Hotspot, Vijay Sales, Planet M, Planet Mobile and Sangeetha Mobiles. They can be also purchased online from Snapdeal.
These physical gift cards will be ideal for those who do not have or do not want to use their debit or credit cards to purchase apps and other content from Google Play Store. Moreover, these gift cards can be used for small amount of purchases also on Google Store.
“We hope the increased availability of Google Play Gift Cards will make it easier for users to enjoy their favourite movies, books, magazines, apps, and games across all their devices. Users in India can buy games like Prince of Persia at Rs 10 or get big discounts on movies like The Great Gatsby or Sherlock Holmes during this promotion,†Saurabh Agarwal, head of retail partnerships – Google Play, India said in an official blog post.
