Google keen on making BlackBerry apps

Although the company is keen on making apps for BlackBerry the decision depends on the adoption of BlackBerry devices.

Google, the maker of operating system, is keen to offer more services and applications for the BlackBerry operating system. BlackBerry presently only has access to Gmail but the users surely want access to other Google services like Maps and Drive.

Sundar Pichai, senior vice president of Android and Chrome, revealed this during a talk show. “The only hurdle in the way is that the uptake of the new platform is slow and Google will only make dedicated applications if BlackBerry is able to get a substantial number of users aboard,” he was quoted as saying at the show.

Google already has HTML5 version of most of its services which are available for different platforms and users can easily access these services through the web on their devices. But the dedicated application will only be made in the times to come.

The uptake of the BlackBerry 10 platform is on the rise as newer devices are making its way to more countries. BlackBerry itself is trying newer ways to revive the interest and with devices like the Q5 coming in the numbers are likely to increase considerably.
