Two months after introducing the Sport smartwatch with Snapdragon Wear 3100 for Rs 17,995, Fossil has announced yet another wearable powered by Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform – the Fossil Gen 5 smartwatch. The watch comes running Wear OS and offers a dedicated speaker – microphone combo to make and receive calls. The Fossil Gen 5 will be available for an asking price of $295 (approx. Rs 21,000).
Fossil Gen 5 comes with a 44mm dial and features a 1.28-inch circular AMOLEDdisplay. There are three buttons on the right side – two customisable buttons and a rotating crown in the middle. The smartwatch is powered by a Snapdragon 3100 Chipset with 1GB RAM and 8GB storage.
The Fossil watch comes with four pre-sets for longer lasting battery – Extended Battery Mode, Daily Mode, Time-Only Mode and Custom Mode. Extended Mode will turn off features to extend the battery life of the watch to multiple days while Time-Only mode disables everything but the clock. The daily mode is the watch’s default setting and comes with all features enabled while in Custom mode, users can choose which features they want to keep active.
The Gen 5 smartwatch comes with a swimproof speaker that offers users the ability to make and receive phone calls. This also doubles up as a means to use Google Assistant handsfree and the speaker can also be used to play music.
Fossil’s latest watch offers NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi and GPS for connectivity. The device runs on Google’s Wear OS and offers voice commands through Google Assistant. The watch is water-resistant to up to 30 metres. It comes with a Heart Rate monitor while other Sensors include an accelerometer, gyroscope, altimeter and ambient light sensor.
The Fossil Gen 5 smartwatch comes in six variations and is compatible with any 22mm watch strap. The Carlyle series comes in Smoke (steel), Black (silicone) and Dark Brown (leather) colours while the Julianna line will be available in Rose Gold (steel), Blush (leather) and Black (silicone) variants. The Fossil Gen 5 will be available for an asking price of $295 (approx. Rs 21,000).
