Older devices with atleast an 800 Mhz processor and 512 MB of RAM can operate this new browser.
But the newer operating system versions are not the ones that the developers are targeting as the new browser also brings in support for older devices that run on older ARM v6 processor with minimum of 800 MHz clock speed along with minimum 512 MB of RAM. That's just the beginning as we can expect more devices to be added later on with support for devices with even lower specifications.
At present, devices such as the HTC Cha Cha, LG Optimus Net, Motorola Fire XT, HTC Wildfire S, Huawei Ascend, the Samsung Galaxy Ace, and several smartphones under the Micromax Superfone range now support the latest Firefox mobile web browser.
Along with that the Firefox mobile browser bring along the Tab Preview feature that makes web browsing a breeze. Also, the Firefox browser brings along optimisations for HTML 5 based content as well.
Firefox's latest version of the mobile browser is compatible with devices running Android version 2.2 and above. It is advised to the users that they connect to a high speed internet source such as a WiFi or 3G to download this browser as it is a 17 MB installation and can take a while to get downloaded using regular GPRS connection.
