Facebook testing Forwarding Info and Frequently Forwarded features

It seems to be an attempt by Whatsapp to combat the menace of fake news which has led to a lot of problem in the recent past

Facebook-owned service, Whatsapp, is planning to add two significant features in its messaging app dubbed as “Forwarding Info”, and “Frequently Forwarded”.

It seems to be an attempt by Whatsapp to combat the menace of fake news as “Forwarding Info” feature will let the sender know how many times a message that he or she is sharing has been forwarded. One will able to check the information on Message Info section. To access this section, one needs to long press on the sent message and then select the info (i) icon on top of the WhatsApp chat window.

On the other hand, “Frequently Forwarded” feature, one will witness this label above a sent message when it has been forwarded by a person more than four times.

A report by WABetaInfo says that both the new features have been spotted in a beta update, 2.19.80, for WhatsApp on Android and are currently in the development phase. At present, it can’t be confirmed if both the features will make it to the iOS app as well.

WhatsApp is also expected to seed an ‘Advanced Search’ mode on Android and iOS as well as Group Invitation Feature on Android. Advanced Search mode will bring enhanced search tools which will suggest you relevant texts when searched upon but also explore the same across the media shared through WhatsApp. This includes any Photos, GIFs, Videos, Documents, Links and Audio shared between users or groups.

The Group invitation will give you the control over who can add you to a group. Enabling this feature will stop admins fromadding anyone in the group without their permission. Group invitation will come with three options – Nobody, My Contacts or Everyone.
