Facebook has released a new significant feature loaded update for the Facebook Messenger App for Apple iOS and Google Android platform. New Facebook Messenger update brings Free voice call support for the official Android and iOS app. The Voice Call feature is powered by the Voice over Internet Protocol technology and one can easily make calls to Facebook Messenger contacts over WiFi or Mobile Data network.
As a result of this development Facebook Messenger plans to get even with the competition from other mobile Instant Messengers such as Viber, Line and WeChat who have voice calling feature.
Facebook Messenger app will now allow making free calls to the Facebook Contacts over WiFi or over the mobile data network. Do note that though Facebook calls this service as ‘Free Call’ the data charges may apply. To perform a free voice call, the phone number of the contact is required. We tried out the voice calling and the quality was clear.
