Facebook has pushed out a new update for its official Android application and has added front facing camera support. For avid Facebook users, this is not a major overhaul or ground breaking performance lift, but bunch of additional features.
The new Facebook for Android 1.9.7 app requires Android 2.2 Froyo or higher running smartphones. It comes with a new messaging feature that allows users to switch between conversations. Also one can include friends of friends in an active conversation and share larger size photos. Most importantly, you also get to see who is available for a conversation or not.
The new Facebook for Android app also brings support for using the front facing camera in several high-end and mid-range devices for clicking photos and uploading them on the Facebook wall. The update also bring various bug fixes and under the hood changes but we are not sure if it actually solves the issue of being relatively slow and less intuitive than the new Google+ app.
