Asus has launched its new smartwatch – the ZenWatch 3 – at £299 (approx. INR 17,000). The new smart-watch from Asus comes with a round display – a 1.39-inch AMOLED Display having 400 x 400 Pixel resolution. Asus has been a bit crazy with the pricing this year with the new series of Zenfone smartphones ranging up to Rs 63,000.
“IFA is where we launched our very first smartwatch and we have continued the tradition today with ZenWatch 3. We deeply appreciate the loyal support from consumers in Europe, and we are excited to bring our new Zenvolution product line-up to the European markets,” commented Eric Chen, Asus Vice President, at the launch event.
The smartwatch is powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 SoC and 512MB RAM. It has 4GB inbuilt storage and a 341mAh battery which can provide up to two days of charge. Interestingly, Asus also boasted about this new feature called HyperCharge, through which it claims that you can get about 60 percent of battery in 15 minutes.
On the outside, the smartwatch is 9.95mm thick and Asus will offer up to 50 custom watch faces. The watch also has a Face-Designer App which even lets users to customise their own watch faces. The new ZenWatch 3 will come in three colour variants – Gunmetal Black, Silver, and Rose Gold. For the strap, we get two options in Beige and dark brown which is stitched in Italian high quality leather. Also, there are 3 buttons one being a customisable button, one which activated the Zenfit activity tracking app and one is a digital crown.
Talking about the Zenfit fitness app, the Zenwatch 3 has a 95 percent step counter which can also track activities like push-ups, running, and sit-ups apart from steps.
As of now there has been no information about its availability in India but US and Germany will be the first one to get the ASUS ZenWatch 3 with sales starting October.
