Asus Zenfone 6 gets a new update, brings August security patch and more

Asus has started rolling out a new update to its latest Zenfone 6 aka Asus 6Z smartphone. The update brings the latest security patch along with some new features, bug fixes and other improvements.

The company has started rolling out the new update to Asus Zenfone 6 with model number ZS630KL. The update comes with version number 16.1220.1908.189 is currently rolling out in the global units and European units. However, there is no information when the update will be rolled out to the Indian units.

As per the official changelog, the update brings tunning parameters. It also brings support for 18 more settings for its Smart Key. The update also brings improvements in audio parameter and sound quality. It also optimises translation strings and adds the latest August 2019 security patch. The update also preloads new Rajiko and HybridRadio for Japan and Netlfix for Brazil. Here is the complete changelog of the new update:

XDA Developers has also revealed some other key features of the new update. To start with, the report highlights the newly added setting to smart keys. These include toggle hotspot, toggle Bluetooth, make a call, open calculator, currency converter and unit converter, open clock or set alarm, open photo album, open recent files, open camera, take photo or record video and more. Furthermore, the update also adds a shortcut to open Google Lens in the bottom right-hand corner of the viewfinder.

Previously, the company announced Android Q Beta programme for its latest flagship smartphone, the Zenfone 6 aka Asus 6Z. The company is currently looking to recruit Beta testers for the latest build.
