Asus Zenfone 3 Laser and Zenfone 3 Zoom to now get Android Oreo update in June

Asus rolled out the Android Oreo update for Zenfone 3 Deluxe smartphone last week.

Last month, Asus confirmed that it will be rolling out Oreo update to the Asus Zenfone 3 Laser, Zenfone 3 Deluxe and Zenfone 3 Zoom by the end of March 2018. True to its statement, Asus rolled out the Android Oreo update for Zenfone 3 Deluxe smartphone last week, while the other two smartphones are still running on Android Nougat.

The news was confirmed by Asus Malaysia on their official Twitter handle. The tweet reads “[UPDATE] ZenFone 3 Laser (ZC551KL) & ZenFone 3 Zoom (ZE553KL)’s Oreo Update has been delayed due to certain issues that need to be fixed. Targeting to be release End of June! Sorry for this!”. The brand revealed thatAsus Zenfone 3 Laser with model number ZC551KL andZenfone 3 Zoom will be updated to the latest operating system in the June month end.

After the Oreo update, the smartphone will have picture-in-picture mode that lets users to two tasks simultaneously. So, for example, one can minimise a YouTube video while sending a text message or writing an email. Android Oreo has other features like including Background limits, installation of apps via APK, over 60 new emojis, notification dots, Wide-gamut colour for apps, Snoozing individual notification, Adaptive icons, Keyboard navigation, WebView enhancements and much more.

Previously, the brand rolled out Android Oreo update for Zenfone 3 Deluxe smartphone. The Android Oreo update comes with version V80.20.96.89 and is available for the smartphone with model number ZS550KL. Since the update is being rolled out over-the-air, it may take some time before it comes to your device and will reach all the users in coming weeks. One can also manually check for the update by going to Settings ->About Phone -> Software Update. Before starting the update, your device should be at least 50% charged with a stable network.
