Apple is planning to bring an affordable tablet next year, according to a report.
Digitimes, quoting sources, said that the tablet will be inexpensive – a really surprising thing to hear considering the prices of devices Apple has released so far.
As per the report, the tablet will come with a 9.7 inch screen and will cost US$259 or just about Rs 16,710.
“The device should be able to attract more demand from price-oriented consumers, allowing Apple to maintain its present 10 million-unit tablet shipments a quarter,” the report added.
“With the new device, the sources expect the tablet market to witness a new wave of price competition among first-tier players including Samsung Electronics, Amazon, Huawei and Lenovo,” it added.
India’s tablet market saw 46 per cent growth in India in the third quarter of this year but that was mostly due to various initiatives like Gujarat government’s Namo program. In fact, reports indicate that the demand for tablets will remain sluggish as phablets would rule the roost.
