Apple has revealed that under ‘very rare circumstances’, a crack might have formed along the rounded edges of the screen in the aluminium models of Apple Watch Series 2 or Series 3.

Apple has initiated a screen replacement programme for its aluminium models of the Apple Watch Series 2 and Watch Series 3. The programme has been started after number users reported a crack developed along the rounded of the smartwatches.

Apple has revealed that under ‘very rare circumstances’, a crack might have formed along the rounded edges of the screen in the aluminium models of Apple Watch Series 2 or Series 3. The company notes that the crack might begin from one side and it continues around the screen.

The brand has also shown the image of the cracks appearing on the Watch Series 2 or Series 3. The company says, “The program covers eligible aluminium models of Apple Watch Series 2 and Series 3 for three years after the first retail sale of the unit or one year from the start date of this program, whichever is longer.”

The company has revealed that customers who have witnessed this type of crack are eligible for screen replacement free of charge. The models that are covered under this programme are Apple Watch Series 2 GPS-only and + Cellular models, Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS, GPS + Cellular) and Apple Watch Nike+ Series 3 (GPS, GPS + Cellular). That said, no other Apple Watch models are covered under this programme.

In order to avail the screen replacement, customers need to find Apple Authorized Service Provider, go to an Apple Retail Store or through email interaction. The Apple Watch will be examined prior to any service to verify whether it is eligible for this programme or not. The company further reveals that the Apple Watch will be returned in approximately five business days.
