Android gets Windows Live messenger

Windows live messenger makes its way to Android phones, now Gtalk is not the only solution.

After Windows Phone, the new mobile version of the new Windows Live Messenger is now available in Google’s marketplace. Developed and named by Miyowa, the Windows Live Messenger (WLM) is now available for download under the name “Messenger by Miyowa”.

Built and based on the same Windows Phone variant, the Miyowa WLM features multi tabbed functionality with the initial log in screen followed by the main home screen that displays all connections as similar to the PC variant.

Users can also add Yahoo Messenger contacts to this application along with their Hotmail contacts. Direct access to Hotmail is also integrated within the messenger, which certainly helps save some important time otherwise lost is going to Hotmail using the browser.

Since this is the first ever variant of the Windows Live Messenger, Microsoft has restrained from adding advanced features like calling and even Access to Sky drive (online file storage service of Hotmail) for file transfers.

Microsoft seems more focused on getting the basics right then add more information and features to the forthcoming variants.

Users can now download and use this application on their Android devices from version 1.6 and upwards. Users can either download it directly from the marketplace or can also follow the link to download the application.
