AMD unveils 2nd-generation Ryzen PRO, Athlon PRO processors with Radeon Vega GPU

Built on 12nm manufacturing technology, the new AMD Ryzen PRO 3000 Series mobile processors include the Ryzen 7 Pro 3700U, Ryzen 5 Pro 3500U and Ryzen 3 Pro 3300U processors. The new chips will be able to deliver up to 12 hours of office usage and 12 hours of video playback on a single charge and improved security.

A month after announcing that AMD Radeon datacenter GPUs will powerthe Google Stadia cloud gaming platform, AMD has announced the launch of the 2nd-generation Ryzen PRO and Athlon PRO processors with Radeon Vega graphics.

Built on 12nm manufacturing technology, the new AMD Ryzen PRO 3000 Series mobile processors include the Ryzen 7 Pro 3700U, Ryzen 5 Pro 3500U and Ryzen 3 Pro 3300U processors. The new chips will be able to deliver up to 12 hours of office usage and 12 hours of video playback on a single charge and improved security.

The most high-end of the three is the Ryzen 7 Pro 3700U chip which offers a clock speed of 2.3GHz with a boost of up to 4GHz and is based on a 4-core, 8-thread structure. It consists of an AMD Radeon Vega GPU with 10 cores and a clock-speed of 1400 MHz.

The Ryzen 5 Pro 3500U and Ryzen 3 Pro 3300U processors come with a base clock speed of 2.1GHz with a boost of up to 3.7GHz and 3.5GHz respectively. There are four cores each on the 3500U and 3300U but it’s the Ryzen 5 Pro which features 8 threads. All three Ryzen Pro chips have a TDP of 15 watts and 6MB cache size.

AMD has also announced a dual-core four-thread Athlon Pro 300U with a clock-speed of 2.4GHz and a boost of up to 3.3GHz. There are 3 cores of Radeon Vega GPUs with a clock-speed of 1,000MHz.

AMD has partnered with HP and Lenovo who have committed to launching Ryzen Pro-based laptops later this year.
