Amazon is planning to launch a slew of products in different categories that will be powered by its virtual assistant, Alexa. The e-commerce giant is looking to go beyond smart devices by partnering with Indian companies to launch a plethora of products meant for the Indian market.
According to a report by Factor Daily, Amazon is looking to diversify its portfolio by entering into different domains including smart switches, televisions, set-top boxes, home controls, mobile phones, automobiles among others. The report adds that the company has tied up with different Indian brands like Mybox Technologies, BPL and Bengaluru realty company Embassy Group to launch Alexa-powered products.
Starting with Embassy, the brand wants to build Alexa-powered by smart homes that come pre-installed with Amazon Echo devices. This will allow users to control smart home appliance using Alexa voice service. Further, BPL is planning to launch a series of speakers called VoiceOne with Alexa voice integration.
The report further highlights that the Mybox will roll out Alexa voice services by the end of July and it will allow its users to use Alexa features like voice command shopping, booking cabs and more with the new set-top boxes. Mybox will introduce Alexa-powered set-top box that will have a WiFi-based dongle with a voice-based remote. The kit will be priced at around Rs 999. The company will also partner with different players in smart switch market and Amazon is looking to introduce wired and wireless headphones that will come with Alexa.
