Amazon has announced the launch of a new service in India, which makes it easier to read ebooks without paying any extra money. Dubbed as Amazon Prime Reading, the service is for free for Prime members.
The service was first introduced in the US in 2016 and it gives a special access to Prime members to a collection of hundreds of free e-books and comics. The company has revealed that it is offering literature and fiction, non-fiction, romance, comics and Indian language eBooks under this programme. Popular titles like Harry Potter, Immortals of Meluha by Amish, Mossad among others will be available for free with Amazon Prime Reading programme. Apart from this, books in regional languages like Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil etc, will be also available under this model. This is not it, users will get to choose some Audible books as well.
“Prime Reading builds the habit of reading. Prime members can now read their favourite titles at no additional cost by conveniently downloading and reading eBooks within minutes. They can discover and read new and bestselling titles from a variety of authors at no additional cost. eBooks under Prime Reading include all genres like Literature & Fiction, Travel, and Romance,” said Rajiv Mehta, Country Manager, Kindle India.
The service is available on Kindle eBook reader and one can also avail this through Kindle app available for Android and iOS. The new service is also available on Kindle Lite app. With this, Amazon is now offering a host of interesting services with Prime subscriptions. Users already get unlimited free delivery coupled with different streaming services like Prime Video and Prime Music.
