Bharti Airtel has reportedly reduced the data benefits on its two prepaid plans, Rs 149 and Rs 399. This is a first as most of its competition is looking to attract more users by giving them more data benefits.
According to a report by TelecomTalk, the company has reduced the data limit of the Rs 149 plan from 1.4GB per day to just 1GB per day. This simply means that users will now get a total data benefits of 28GB on the recharge of the above-mentioned plan. The plan comes with unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day for a period of 28 days.
Further, the company dropped the data benefits on the Rs 399 from 2.4GB per day to just 1.4GB per day. This means users will get only 117.6GB of data, against 201.6GB of data that was offered earlier. The plan still offers unlimited voice calls along with 100 SMS per day and it comes with a validity of 84 days. The report further highlights that some users are getting 60 days of validity.
This is sad to see a company like Airtel reducing the data benefits on its plan at a time when the competition is trying their level best to offer more data benefits to its users. Even telecom operators like BSNL are now offering more data and other benefits to its users. With this, move it would be interesting to see whether the users will accept the new data pack or will shift to other telecom operators that are providing them with more benefits.
