Airtel Payments Bank now enables card-less cash withdrawal at ATMs in India

With this partnership, Airtel Payments Bank’s saving account holders will be able to withdraw cash by using their mobile phone through IMT (Instant Money Transfer) card-less cash technology. The technology can be used for self-withdrawal or for sending money to an intended recipient for ATM cash withdrawal.

Airtel Payments Bank has today announced that its customers can now make card-less cash withdrawals at over 100,000 ATMs across the country. The company has tied up with Empays, a provider of cloud-based payments solutions, for this initiative.

With this partnership, Airtel Payments Bank’s saving account holders will be able to withdraw cash by using their mobile phone through IMT (Instant Money Transfer) card-less cash technology. The technology can be used for self-withdrawal or for sending money to an intended recipient for ATM cash withdrawal.

The facility is currently available for Airtel Payments Bank account holders at over 20,000 IMT enabled ATMs in India and will cover more than 100,000 ATMs by the end of this year. More than Over 100,000 ATMs are linked to IMT system from different banks including State Bank of India, Axis Bank and Punjab National Bank.

One can access the IMT facility by dialling USSD *400# and through MyAirtel app. Airtel has revealed that in order to make a cash withdrawal, customers can generate a request from the above-mentioned ways for withdrawal at any of the IMT enabled ATMs. As an introductory offer, Airtel Payments Bank has waived off Rs 25 transaction fee for the first two self-withdrawals.

Our tie-up with Empays is an important step that enables our customers to realize digital, phone based cash withdrawals at over 100,000 ATMs, through either USSD or the MyAirtel App. We will accelerate such steps to make digital banking with Airtel Payments Bank simple and easy.”
