Airtel new ‘Internet TV’ can convert your regular TV into a Smart TV

Airtel Digital TV today launched its first hybrid Set-Top Box (STB) called Internet TV which brings the world of Android TV to your TV via your STB. Airtel claims that with Internet TV, users can enjoy over 500 plus satellite TV channels. In other words, Airtel Internet TV transforms any TV into a Smart TV and users can then switch between the online and offline content seamlessly.

Further, Airtel Internet TV also comes preloaded with Netflix, YouTube, Google Play Music, Google Play Games, Airtel Movies and Google Play Store which will allow users to download their favourite apps and games on their TV.

Briefing you about the new hybrid Set-Top Box, the new Airtel Internet TV STB is powered by a 2GHz dual-core processor paired with 2GB RAM. The STB is compatible with all TVs and is powered by Android TV which converts your regular TV into a Smart TV. It comes with 8GB of internal storage for Apps which can be expanded up to 128GB via SD card. The STB has a built-in Chromecast, Wi-Fi receiver and Bluetooth functionality for all kinds of features it can deliver. In other words, you can pair it with your Bluetooth speakers or connect to the internet to stream YouTube or simply cast what’s on your device via built-in Chromecast. Apart from this, the STB also comes with both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports and it also has an Ethernet port for wired broadband connectivity.

The new Airtel Internet TV STB supports video quality up to 4K (P60) and also supports Dolby ATMOS pass-through. One can easily download various apps from either Google Play Store or Airtel AppStore. Also, you can connect to any external game controller or even your smartphone as a gaming pad. Other than this, the STB also supports external hard drives via USB so you can save your TV programmes on an external storage of up to 2TB.

Airtel claims that in order to stream content smoothly without any buffer, one need to have a Wi-Fi or 4G hotspot connection with a minimum speed of 4Mbps.

Else, Airtel is also offering a limited offer for Rs 7,999 which will give you a year long subscription to Airtel Internet TV.

Apart from this, Airtel Internet TV customers will also get an additional 25GB of data every month on their Airtel broadband connection if they register for myHOME on myAirtel app.
