ACT Fibernet topped fixed broadband download speed: Ookla

ACT Fibernet topped the charts with download speeds between 45.31 and 47.74 Mbps.

ACT Fibernet has topped the fixed segment as it currently offers the highest download speeds in the country during April-September, 2019. The broadband player is closely followed by Hathway, report Ookla.

As per the report by Ookla, ACT Fibernet topped the charts with download speeds between 45.31 and 47.74 Mbps. Hathway is in the second sport with a top download speed of 33.69 Mbps. Airtel speeds rose to second place in September with a mean download speed of 34.43 followed by BSNL and GTPL with speeds hovering between 16.00 and18.47 Mbps for BSNL and between 16.02 and 19.45 Mbps for GTPL.

The report further highlights that Reliance Jio’s GigaFiber service showed the most variability in speeds from a dip to 17.52 Mbps in August to reaching 41.99 Mbps in September. On comparing the fixed and mobile download speeds in the 15 largest cities in India, the reports show Jio was the fastest provider for fixed broadband in five of India’s largest cities during Q2-Q3 2019.

The report further highlighted that Airtel was the fastest mobile operator in 11 of India’s largest cities and tied with Jio in a twelfth during Q2-Q3 2019.

Furthermore, Ookla also analysed the mobile network performance at peak times of the day. As per the company, Airtel came out to the top as it was able to deliver the same speed in peak hours as compared to Jio’s top speed in the non-busy hours of the day. The report says that Jio mobile internet speeds were the slowest during peak hours, dropping down to 7.87 Mbps. Vodafone and Idea were almost as fast as Airtel.
