Acer had announced its affordable 7 inch Iconia B1 tablet for the Indian market a couple of days back with no finite deadline on availability. But the day has finally arrived as Acer Iconia B1 is now officially available in the market at Rs 8,199. Now with a low cost tablet coming from a brand like Acer, the prices of other tablets from low cost device makers are bound to fall further-it’s just a matter of time before we start seeing the shift.
The Acer Iconia B1 tablet houses a low power dual core mobile processor and packs 8 GB on board storage. It runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update and is aimed at consumers who wish to read ebooks, browse the mobile web, play casual games and connect over social networks.
The Acer Iconia B1 features a 7 inch LCD display with 1024 x 600 pixel resolution and it supports multi-touch. Under the hood, it packs a low power dual core 1.2 GHz Mediatek MTK 8317T mobile processor clubbed with 512 MB RAM. By default, the tablet offers 8 GB on board storage, part of which would be reserved for system updates. One can always add up to 32 GB via micro SD card to expand storage.
The wireless connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi and GPS. There is a 0.3 megapixel front facing camera to click portrait images and support video chat. Packing a micro USB 2.0 charging port, the Iconia B1 has a 2710 mAh battery to make it last for about 8 hours, as claimed by the manufacturer.
Iconia B1 tablet is made available through popular electronic store Infibeam and will soon be available through other outlets and authorized dealers in India as well.
