Microsoft had promised to release the Windows Phone 8.1 update but half of the year is over already. Meanwhile, the lucrative smartphone range â€“ Rs 20,000 and Rs 30,000 is heavily dominated by the Google Android based smartphones. Almost every device sports the Android 4.4 KitKat update and ready for the next major.

HTC Desire 816 competes directly with the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 and Sony Xperia T2 Ultra. The Desire 816 sports a fresh look and design. HTC has placed a large 5.5-inch display with 720p (HD) resolution. Powered by the 1.6 GHz Snapdragon 400 quad core processor, the phone has 1.5 GB RAM to power the overall performance. The Desire 816 is mere 7.9 mm thick and weighs 165 grams. HTC has loaded the Sense 6.0 over Android 4.4.2 KitKat on it.
Desire 816 has 8 GB of internal storage and memory slot to support up to 128 GB micro SD card. There is a 13 megapixel camera in the back with LED Flash. The rear camera comprising of BSI sensor offers f2.2 aperture and can capture full HD videos. There is a 5 megapixel camera in the front and it too can capture full HD videos. HTC Desire 816 has two nano SIM slots. The specifications point that the smartphone can also support 4G LTE network enabled nano SIM module.

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy K Zoom smartphone with great digital camera capabilities. The Galaxy K Zoom is powered by a hexa-core Samsung Exynos 5 mobile chipset and 2 GB RAM. This core hardware powers the TouchWiz Essence UI loaded Android 4.4 KitKat system. The Galaxy K Zoom bears very slim and easily pocketable design so that it can be easily carried anywhere.
Samsung has packed a 20.7 megapixel BSI CMOS sensor in the Galaxy K Zoom and coupled it with Optical Image Stabiliser to deliver best possible imaging results. The camera module is also aided with the Xenon Flash. Galaxy K Zoom offers a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display with HD resolution as a viewfinder while imaging and as smartphone rest of the time. For connectivity, the Galaxy K Zoom offers 4G LTE (TD-LTE), WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, A-GPS and GLONASS. Samsung has packed only 2430 mAh battery with Ultra Power Saving mode.
Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual
The Xperia T2 Ultra dual flaunts a 6-inch HD TRILUMINOS display and is powered by the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 mobile chipset.
The Xperia T2 Ultra dual have same hardware inside with latest Sony Xperia NXT family omnibalance design. In a way, the Xperia T2 Ultra appears to be a slightly watered version of the Xperia Z Ultra. Sony has used a 6-inch TRILUMINOS display with X-Reality that sports HD Resolution. The display is glistened with Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 for mobile. Sony packed a quad-core 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8928 mobile chipset with 1GB RAM and 8 GB on-board storage. Memory slot can hold up to 64 GB micro SD card.
Xperia T2 Ultra has a 13 megapixel camera with Exmor RS for mobile sensor at the back and offers HD video recording as well as 4x Zoom. Sony has added several new features in the camera department. Some of these include – Portrait Retouch for make-up effects, Collage for creative photo collages, Background Defocus by blurring the background, Timeshift burst allows 31 photos in two seconds before and after pressing shutter and finally, Sweep panorama. Sony has also loaded the latest version of the Album, Walkman and Movies app with the Sony UI on the top of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update.
There is a 1.1 megapixel camera with Exmor R image sensor in the front. Other notable features include dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, MHL and GPS with A-GPS with GLONASS support. Sony Xperia T2 Ultra dual is loaded with a 3000 mAh non-removable battery which can be used with the STAMINA mode to get long run time.
LG made Google Nexus 5 is one of the best devices in the market offering stock Android 4.4 KitKat. It only offers great design, but the no nonsense user experience with a promise of priority of updates. The Nexus 5 has a 4.95-inch True HD IPS+ capacitive display with 1920×1080 pixel resolution.
The Nexus 5 is powered by quad-core 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 mobile chipset paired with 2 GB RAM. The said model offers 16 GB storage. By default, it runs Android 4.4 KitKat and obviously will get future updates.
Nexus 5 features 8 megapixel camera with LED flash to click high quality images and is capable of recording full HD videos. Its front facing 1.3 megapixel camera supports video calling. The Nexus 5 offers Bluetooth 4.0, dual-band WiFi, WiFi Direct and 4G LTE network support for wireless connectivity. LG has managed to pack only 2300 mAh battery but it lacks memory card slot.
Motorola Moto X features a 4.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen display with 720p (HD) resolution. Motorola powered the Moto X with quad-core 1.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus mobile processor coupled with 2 GB RAM. Unfortunately, there is no memory card slot. At the rear, Moto X features 10 megapixel camera with LED Flash and made it capable to shoot images and full HD videos in HDR. In the front is a 2 megapixel camera capable of full HD video chat.
Motorola has packed several sensor in this device – Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Proximity, Temperature, Barometer and E-Compass. Faster mobile web experience is enjoyable through the dual-band WiFi network support. Motorola exclusive applications and services make it uniquely intuitive for the Android enthusiasts. Moto X has got the Android 4.4 Kitkat update and packs interesting Touchless Control that lets the user interact simply by voice commands. Motorola has packed a 2200 mAh battery in the phone.
