Xiaomi, which operates in India under the brand name Mi, today said that it will launch its Mi 4 smartphone in India next year. As per Xiaomi officials, the phone will be launched in India in the first quarter of next year. Mi has so far launched three handsets – Redmi 1S, Mi 3 and Redmi Note which was launched in India today. All three smartphones were launched with very competitive price tag.
Mi 3 was first to come to India for mind-boggling Rs 13,999. The Redmi 1S also was a blockbuster owing to its superb features and price of just Rs 5,999. The new Redmi Note was also launched at just Rs 8,999 while its 4G version is priced at just Rs 9,999. Thus it is now expected that Mi 4 will too have a very competitive price tag.
Mi 4 is already available in China, the home country of Xiaomi, for roughly Rs 19,400. It offers a 5 inch IPS LCD display with full HD resolution, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, Adreno 330 GPU, and huge 3 GB RAM. Though it has no expandable storage slot, the Mi 4 comes in 16 and 32 GB variants.
This 8.9 mm thick handset weighs 149 grams with its huge 3080 mAh Li-Ion battery which claims to offers 280 hours of 3G standby. It has a 13 megapixel rear camera and an 8 megapixel front camera. The Mi 4 is based on Android 4.4.3 operating system but Xiaomi has announced that it will upgrade all its Mi devices to Android 5.0 Lollipop version so may be the Mi 4 will be launched with the new OS.
The Mi 4 is also compatible with 4G networks (most likely with Indian LTE version too) and offers WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and Micro USB 2.0 port. It comes in black and white colours.
Sadly, the 7.9 inch Mi Pad won’t be launched in India. The Mi Pad, which can be purchased from India via a Hong Kong based e-retailer (addictedtoandroid.com) for Rs 20,479, offers the Tegra K1 CPU, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB ROM, 8 megapixel rear camera, and a 5 megapixel front camera.
