Chinese handset manufacturer, Xiaomi is all set to launch its much hyped Desh Ka Smartphone today.
Xiaomi has so far maintained a veil of secrecy over the identity of the phone. However the company did reveal that the phone will be available on Flipkart only.
The grapevines however are quite filled with rumours that the phone is nothing but the Redmi 5A which got launched in China last month at 599 Yuan, approximately Rs 5,884.
The Chinese version of Xiaomi Redmi 5A features 5-inch HD display with 720 x 1280 pixels resolution and a pixel density of 296ppi and is powered by a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor. It comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, and expandable storage up to 128GB via microSD. The Redmi 5A gets its strength from decent 3,000 mAh battery and runs on Android Nougat operating system wrapped under MIUI 9.
On the camera front, the Redmi 5A sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF, LED Flash, f/2.2 aperture, burst mode, panorama mode, HDR mode, and more. on its back, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies with f/2.0 Aperture lens. Besides the smartphone offers hybrid dual SIM, 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, and a Micro USB port. The handset measures 140.4 x 70.1 mm x 8.35 mm and weighs 137g.
Currently the cheapest Xiaomi handset is the Redmi 4A that is priced Rs 5,999 onwards. Curiously, the Redmi 4A has almost the exact specification sheet as the Redmi 5A. So it is hard to imagine why Xiaomi would launch a competitor of its own phone. Anyway everything will become clear tomorrow.
