Redmi Go is the first Android Go phone from Xiaomi which was launched in India for Rs 4,499 with 8GB of internal storage. Now seems like the company will be launching a new variant of the smartphone with 16GB of internal storage in the country.
Redmi India on Twitter teased that a Redmi Go variant with more storage might be launched soon in India. However the tweet doesn’t mention anything specific, it does say that ‘#AapkiNayiDuniya hogi aur badi’ hinting that Xiaomi could launch a 16GB storage variant of the Redmi Go.
Notably the same hashtag was used for promoting Redmi Go on Twitter around its launch earlier this year. It is currently unknown if the company will increase the RAM also. But since it is an Android Go phone, it is likely to come with 1GB RAM only.
To recall the specs of Redmi Go, the smartphone features a 5-inch HD screen with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio, 296 PPI and 1000 contrast ratio. It has an 8-megapixel rear camera with 1.12-micron pixels, an f/2.0 aperture, and a single LED flash module.. The rear camera has various features like Auto-focus HDR, Continuous photo mode (Burst), Countdown timer, Manual mode, real-time filters and smart scene mode. On the front, the Redmi Go packs a 5-megapixel camera, with 1.12-micron pixels and an f/2.2 aperture.
Redmi Go runs on Google's Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition) and comes pre-installed with customised apps like Gmail Go, Assistant Go, Maps Go, etc. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor backed by Adreno 308 GPU. It has 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal storage, which can further be expanded up to 128GB with a microSD card slot.
The phone has a 3,000mAh battery and it does not feature security options like fingerprint sensor and face unlock. There are connectivity options like dual-SIM support, 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, and a micro-USB port. The Redmi Go measures 140.4x70.1x8.35mm and weighs 137 grams.
