Xiaomi has launched a new colour variant of its budget-centric smartphone, the Redmi 5A. Dubbed as Lake Blue Edition, the latest colour option will go on sale today at 12:00 PM on Flipkart and company’s official store.
Manu Kumar Jain, Managing Director, Xiaomi India, tweeted this new on his official Twitter handle. The tweet reads, “Redmi 5A is now also available in the beautiful Lake Blue colour. Sale today at 12 noon on Mi.com and Flipkart.” To recall, the brand introduced the Lake Blue colour option of the Redmi 5A in China last year. The device is also available in Champagne Gold, Platinum Silver Gray and Rose Gold colour options.
Interestingly, the smartphone will now be available for its original starting price of Rs 5,999. The smartphone was announced in two variants – 2GB RAM with 16GB internal storage priced at Rs 5,999 and 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage priced at Rs 6,999. Initially, the brand offered a discount to first 5 million customers of Rs 1,000, to bring down the cost of 2GB RAM variant to Rs 4,999.

The tweet reads “Redmi 5A will now be available at its original price of ₹5,999 onMi.com&Flipkart.#DeshKaSmartphone.”The Xiaomi Redmi 5A is exclusively available on Flipkart, company’s official website and Mi Homes. It comes in Gold, Rose Gold and Dark Grey colours.
TheXiaomi Redmi 5Afeatures 5-inch HD display with 720 x 1280 pixels resolution and a pixel density of 296ppi and is powered by a 1.4GHz Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor with Adreno 308 GPU. It comes with 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of internal storage, and expandable storage up to 128GB via microSD. The Redmi 5A gets its strength from decent 3,000 mAh battery offering 8 days of standby time and runs on Android Nougat operating system wrapped under MIUI 9.
On the camera front, the Redmi 5A sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF, LED Flash, f/2.2 aperture, burst mode, panorama mode, HDR mode, and more. on its back, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies with f/2.0 Aperture lens. Besides the smartphone offers dual SIM, 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, and a Micro USB port. The handset measures 140 x 70.1 mm x 8.35 mm and weighs 137g.
