Black Shark, a company funded by Xiaomi, has today announced its foray into India and will soon be bringing it’s latest products, peripherals and services to the gamer community in the country. The company will be headquartered at Bangalore.
David Li, Vice President, Black Shark (Global), will also serve as General Manager, India responsible for managing overall operations. Chirag Nagendra will also be part of the team and will be responsible for brand building and communications strategy as Black Shark India’s Marketing Head. Chirag Nagendra was earlier working as OnePlus communications Head.
Xiaomi’s Black Shark released a press statement announcing its arrival in India. As of now, no launch date in India has been revealed by the company yet, though Xiaomi says it is working with partners in preparation for the launch and an official date will be provided later. With its operations in India, the company is likely to launch peripherals like the Gamepad 2.0 controller, along with its gaming smartphones.
For now, the company has launched two gaming smartphones in China last year. Xiaomi’s Black Shark gaming phone was launched in April followed by Black Shark Helo launch in October last year. In the press release, Black Shark mentioned, “A Big “Hello” to you from Black Shark and it’s India Team!” This possibly hints that Black Shark Helo may be the first smartphone to launch in India
The Black Shark Gaming Phone features a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with a screen resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and a brightness of 550 nits. The device is powered by the latest 2.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor along with Adreno 630 GPU coupled with 6GB of RAM with 64GB of storage and 8GB of RAM with 128GB of storage. It features a dual-camera setup with a combination of the 12-megapixel sensor and 20-megapixel sensor. For the front, there is a 20-megapixel shooter. The Black Shark Gaming Phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo and it is backed by a 4000mAh battery Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.
To recall specs of Black Shark Helo Gaming Phone, it features a 6.01-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. The phone is powered by a 2.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor along with Adreno 630 GPU. The gaming smartphone is backed by a 6GB/8GB/10GB of RAM with 128GB/256GB of internal storage. It has dual-camera setup with a configuration of a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 20-megapixel secondary shooter. For the front, there is a 20-megapixel selfie camera. The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo and is backed by a 4000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging support.
