Vivo NEX confirmed to launch on June 12

Vivo NEX may feature a full-screen design with 95% screen-to-body ratio and an in-display fingerprint sensor in the front instead of the traditional fingerprint sensor which is either embedded in the Home button or at the device back panel.

Vivo has released a poster for its upcoming launch event in Shanghai on June 12. The company has confirmed that it will be launching Vivo Nex in China on the said date.

Vivo has shared the poster on Chinese microblogging website, Weibo which comes with a tagline of “What is NEX” and has confirmed the launch date as June 12. The poster via Playfuldroid hints that the Vivo NEX may feature a full-screen design with 95% screen-to-body ratio and an in-display fingerprint sensor in the front instead of the traditional fingerprint sensor which is either embedded in the Home button or at the device back panel.

Recently, pricing details of the Vivo Nex smartphone leaked online. The Vivo Nex will come in two variants – the Snapdragon 710 variant is shown with a price tag of 4,998 Yuan which is approx. Rs 52,846, and the Snapdragon 845 variant with a price tag of 6,998 Yuan which is approx. Rs 73,911.

It is speculated that the variant with Snapdragon 845 will be coming with the pop-up front camera and it will feature 8GB of RAM and an internal storage of 256 GB. The Snapdragon 710 chipset variant, on the other hand, will not feature a pop-up camera and instead, it will feature a selfie camera embedded in the bottom-right corner of the phone’s front side like the Xiaomi Mi MIX series phones. This variant is likely to feature 6GB of RAM and 128 of internal storage.

As per reports, Vivo NEX smartphone will run on Android 8.1.0 Oreo with company’s custom FunTouch OS 4.0 running on top of it. The smartphone is expected to arrive with half-screen fingerprint scanner with support for multi-fingerprint recognition. It may also feature System-in-Package (SIP) technology, three amplifiers and built-in DAC (Digital-to-Analogue Converter) for Hi-Fi audio.
