Sony has reportedly announced the schedule of rolling out Android 9.0 Pie update to six of its smartphones. The company is reported to begin rolling out the update from September.
According to a report by GizChina, the company will roll out Android 9.0 Pie update to XZ2, Xperia XZ2 Compact, Xperia XZ2 Premium, Xperia XZ1, Xperia XZ1 Compact, and Xperia XZ Premium. The report further highlights that the above-mentioned smartphones will be updated to the latest Android version from September to November 2018.
Sony is not the only brand that is planning to update its flagship smartphones to the Android 9.0 Pie. Vivo has already confirmed that it will roll out the update before the end of this year. Vivo said that its customers can expect the next generation of Android OS to be seeded to Vivo devices before the end of this year, or more precisely the fourth quarter of 2018.
Meanwhile, Nokia has started pushing Developer Preview 4 for the Nokia 7 Plus that is based on Android 9. With the latest Developer Preview, the phone will get gesture controls that were announced with Android 9.0 Pie.
Google has already started rolling out Android 9 update to its Pixel lineup, which includes Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel and Pixel XL. Apart from this, Essential Phone has started receiving the update as well. Google has already announced the devices that were a part of the Android Pie beta programme will get the update. The list includes devices from Sony Mobile, Xiaomi, HMD Global, Oppo, Vivo and OnePlus.
