Sony A6600, A6100 APS-C Mirrorless Cameras announced

The A6600 and A6100 come with Sony’s ‘Real-time Tracking’ which utilises AI-based object recognition to ensure that subjects can be captured with accuracy. The cameras also equip Real-time Eye AF which detects and processes eye data in real-time, resulting in improved accuracy, speed and tracking.

A month after launching the RX100 VII 20.1MP compact camera, Sony has now expanded its camera portfolio by announcing two new additions to its Alpha-series APS-C cameras – the Sony A6600 and Sony A6100. The Sony A6600 and Sony A6100 will be available for starting prices of $1400 (approx. Rs 1,00,000) and $750 (approx. Rs 53,800) respectively.

Both the A6600 and A6100 come with a 24.2-megapixel APS-C sensor, the BIONZ X image and lightning-fast acquisition time of 0.02 seconds. The cameras feature 425 focal-plane phase-detection AF points thus covering 84 percent of the image.

The new models come with Sony’s ‘Real-time Tracking’ which utilises AI-based object recognition to ensure that subjects can be captured with accuracy. The cameras also equip Real-time Eye AF which detects and processes eye data in real-time, resulting in improved accuracy, speed and tracking the performance of Eye AF for both humans and animals.

The new Alpha camera features a 180-degree tiltable, 3.0-type 921k-dot touchscreen display and an integrated Microphone input for audio on video recordings. The camera can record videos at in Super 35mm format and offer Interval shooting for time-lapse.

Sony A6600 APS-C Mirrorless Camera

The Alpha 6600 offers an ISO range of 100-32000 (expandable to ISO 50 – 102400) with Area-specific Noise Reduction and Detail Reproduction Technology. The A6600 additionally brings 5-axis in-body image stabilisation system, Sony Z Battery that can offer up to 810 still images, a magnesium alloy design with dust and moisture resistance, touch tracking and an integrated jack.

The Sony A6600 and Sony A6100 APS-C Mirrorless Cameras will be available Asia Pacific region from October and September respectively. The A6600 and A6100 are prices at $1400 (approx. Rs 1,00,000) and $750 (approx. Rs 53,800) respectively for body only. The A6600 with the Sony 18-135mm kit lens will cost $1800 (approx. Rs 1,29,000). The A6100 will be available in Sony 16-50mm lens and Sony 16-50mm + 55-210mm kit for $850 (approx. Rs 61,000) and $1100 (approx. Rs 79,000) respectively.
