Samsung releases Android Pie update roadmap for 24 devices

The news comes from a screenshot of the Samsung Members app which revealed the list of Samsung devices that will receive Android 9 Pie and the estimated time frame of its release. The first devices under Samsung to receive Android Pie will be will be the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus which is set to complete by January 2019.

After rolling out a stable build of Android Pie for the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, Samsung has now released the roadmap for the Android Pie update rollout on its eligible devices. Unlike its history with Android updates, the new version of Google’s mobile OS will find its way on many mid-range and entry-level phones as well and will be rolled through the course of 2019 in phases.

The news comes from a screenshot of the Samsung Members app posted on Sammobile which revealed the list of Samsung devices that will receive Android 9 Pie and the estimated time frame of its release. The first devices under Samsung to receive Android Pie will be will be the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus. The update is already underway for these two devices and we can expect the rollout to complete by January 2019. Samsung will then look to seed a similar update to the Galaxy Note 9 in and around February 2019.

While the Galaxy S8, S8 Plus and Note 8 are set to receive Android Pie during Match 2019, the 2018 editions of Samsung’s popular A-series will get the taste of the same in April 2019, followed by the J-series in May. In addition to the Galaxy smartphones, Samsung will also roll out the Android Pie update to its tablets including the Galaxy Tab S4 10.5, Galaxy Tab S3 9.7, Galaxy Tab A (2017), Galaxy Tab Active 2 and Galaxy Tab A 10.5.

While Samsung has released the roadmap for the rollout of Android Pie on 24 devices, the list may alter and could add more devices in the future as the rollout progresses. As it with any software release, the timelines stated above aren’t an exact indication of the release and a final build of the update might still be delayed if there’s an issue that needs to be resolved.
