Samsung has just unveiled its Galaxy Grand 2 Android smartphone. Though it has not revealed its price yet, its specification suggests it would be priced around Rs 25,000.
In the Grand series, Samsung had earlier launched the Galaxy Grand Duos and Grand Quattro. Here we have done a short analysis of how the Grand 2 differs from the Grand Quattro.
Body and Display:
Samsung’s new Galaxy Grand 2 comes with a 5.25 inch display. This TFT-LCD display has high definition Resolution (1280×720 pixels). On the other hand, the Grand Quattro has a 4.7 inch display with 480×800 pixels resolution.
Since Grand 2 has a bigger display, it is heavier (163 grams) than the Grand Quattro (143.9 grams). However, the Grand 2 is just 8.9 mm thin against 9.65 mm thickness of the Galaxy Grand Quattro.
Memory:
The Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 has 8 GB ROM (internal memory), 64 GB of expandable storage through microSD card, and 1.5 GB RAM.
The Grand Quattro also has 8 GB ROM but has 32 GB expandable storage slot and 1 GB RAM.

OS & Processor:
Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 comes with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system. It has a 1.2 GHz quad core Processor (the processor’s name is not known).
Grand Quattro too has a 1.2 GHz quad core processor but has the older Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean version. But, in the due course of time it will probably also get the OS update.
Camera:
The Grand Quattro has 5 megapixel rear camera and a 0.3 megapixel front camera. There is an LED flash in its rear as well to assist it in low light photography. The rear camera is also said to be able to capture videos at 30 frames per second.
In Grand 2, there is an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 1.9 megapixel front camera. It too has an LED flash and its rear camera is supposed to capture videos in full HD resolution.

Battery and Connectivity:
The Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 has a 2600 mAh battery against 2000 mAh battery of the Grand Quattro. However, do not expect much difference in the battery life of the two phones as Grand 2 has a huge 5.25 inch display while the other one has only a 4.7 inch display.
Both have WiFi, micro USB port, GPS and Bluetooth. Since, Samsung has not revealed the detailed specifications about the Grand 2 we will thus revisit the Grand 2 when Samsung officially makes available to the consumers along with the price. At that time only we will eventually get to know what else is there underneath its 5.25 inch display.
