Samsung is all set to launch a new A-series smartphone in India this month. The company will launch Galaxy A80 in India in Julywhich was first launched for the international market in April this year in Thailand. Samsung hasn’t announced the exact launch date of the smartphone, however.
Samsung sold a record five million units of Galaxy “A series” phones in just 70 days, starting March 1, achieving $1 billion revenue. The company has so far launched six models in the Galaxy A series – Galaxy A50, A30, A20, A10, A70 and A2 Core.
According to Yeon Jeong Kim, head of innovation, product planning group at Samsung Electronics, India is one of the biggest and fast-changing smartphone market for the company.
“Our target is to maintain the top position in the Indian smartphone market. If we win the Indian market, we can win any global market. Indians love technology, therefore, we launch many of our products here and would continue to do so,” Yeon told IANS.
Unlike the Galaxy M-series models that are designed for online-first customers and sold exclusively online, the upcoming A80 will be not be exclusively for online channels.
“Our aim is to make Galaxy A series a $4-billion brand in India this year. We are now on track to exceed our target,” Ranjivjit Singh, Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice-President, Samsung India, had told IANS in an earlier interview.
Samsung Galaxy A80 has a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED (1,080 x 2,400 pixels) Infinity display and comes armed by an Octa-core Snapdragon 730G Processor which has two cores clocked at 2.2GHz and six cores clocked at 1.8GHz along with an Adreno 618 GPU. It comes with 8GB of RAM along with 128GB of internal storage.
Samsung Galaxy A80 is the world’s first phone to feature a triple rotating camera module. It has a rotating pop-up camera (for both rear and front) which is spring loaded to face depending upon your need. The camera has 48-megapixel as a primary sensor with f/2.0 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera with a 123-degree field of view and a 3D TOF depth sensor for Live Focus.
Galaxy A80 is backed up by a 3700mAh battery with 25W Super Fast charging support and runs on Android 9 Pie with Samsung’s One UI out of the box. It also features an in-display fingerprint scanner
