Samsung Galaxy A70 to launch in India next week, pricing leaked

Samsung Galaxy A70 will launch in India next week in the Rs 25,000-Rs 30,000 bracket.

Samsung Galaxy A70 was recently found listed on the company’s official website indicating its imminent launch. Now it has been announced that Samsung will launch Galaxy A70 in India next week. The company will also be launching Galaxy A80 in India in May.

Samsung India, which is targeting $4 billion in revenues from its Galaxy “A” series of phones in 2019, is geared up to challenge its Chinese competitors with several new devices, including the Galaxy A70 smartphone next week and the Galaxy A80 in May, a top company official said on Monday.

“We will launch the Galaxy A70 in India next week in the Rs 25,000-Rs 30,000 bracket and the Galaxy A80 in the Rs 45,000-Rs 50,000 bracket in May,” Ranjivjit Singh, Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President, Samsung India, told IANS.

“We are targeting $4 billion from the Galaxy A series over the calendar year. Just in the first 40 days starting March 1, we have sold a total of two million units of three Galaxy ‘A’ models in India — A50, A30 and A10. The revenue turnover from these three phones in 40 days is $500 million. I think this is a record for any brand in the industry,” Singh added.

“When the rest of the portfolio in the ‘A’ series becomes available we are sure of not only achieving but exceeding our target,” he said, adding that the A series phones will continue to be available across the channels – both online and offline.

To recall, the Galaxy A70 features a 6.7-inch Full Super AMOLED Infinity-U display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and an aspect ratio of 20:9. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 670 octa-core and is coupled with 6GB/8GB and 128GB of storage.

The Galaxy A70 is fuelled by a 4,500mAh battery which supports 25W fast charging. There’s an in-display fingerprint scanner on the front which works with Samsung Pass and lets you sign in to apps with just your fingerprint. The phone runs on Samsung One based on 9 Pie with Night Mode, Samsung Pay, Knox, and Samsung Pass.

For the camera department, A70 features a 32MP primary camera with f/1.7 coupled with an 8MP ultra-wide camera with (f/2.2 aperture, 123-degree field-of-view and a 5MP depth-sensing camera with f/2.2 aperture. On the front, the Galaxy A70 comes with a 32MP camera with f/2.0 aperture available for selfies and video calling.

The Samsung Galaxy A80 was unveiled recently for 649 euro (approx. Rs 50,500). The device features a 6.7-inch Super with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels and an in-display fingerprint scanner on the front. It is powered by an Octa-core which has two cores clocked at 2.2GHz and six cores clocked at 1.8GHz with Adreno 618 GPU, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

In terms of camera, the Galaxy A80 features a 48MP primary lens with an f/2.0 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide angle camera with a 123-degree field of view and a 3D ToF which makes way for Live Focus. It is packed with a 3,700mAh battery with 25W Super and it runs on Android 9 Pie with Samsung’s One UI out of the box.
