Samsung has extended the ChatON instant messaging services support to web platform. So now ChatON users can log into their accounts from the web browser through this link – https://web.samsungchaton.com/.
Samsung ChatON is an instant messaging service that allows users to stay connected and accesses device’s phonebook to find friends. The ChatON app is now available to be used online through a web interface where uses can log in and chat with their friends from any computer. The ChatON app is already available for Android, iOS, and Bada platform.
Samsung introduced ChatON service to compete and to follow RIM’s strategy with BlackBerry Messenger. The ChatON service makes use of user’s phonebook and then adds friends. Simple and easy to use instant messenger offers rich user interface and supports emoticons. Along with one to one chat, users can go ahead to have group chat. Also file transfers can take place smoothly.
In order to use the Web-based Samsung ChatON version, a Samsung account is required which has to be the same one being used with the ChatON mobile app. To access the web interface, one requires acquiring the verification code which is received by entering same mobile number. The four digit code is received as an SMS and also through the ChatON app.
Samsung ChatON competes with Apple’s Message, RIM BlackBerry Messenger, WhatsApp, Kik Messenger and several such similar services. As of now, Samsung does have an advantage of offering web-based chat interface for its instant messaging service. It would not be surprising if other companies would offer the same in near future.
