Reliance Jio has advanced its ‘Monsoon Hungama’ offer by a day. The offer will start from today i.e July 20 and it will offer JioPhone to customers for Rs 501. In the annual general meeting of Reliance Industries, Ambani had announced that the scheme will begin from July 21.
“Jio will start monsoon hungama scheme from 5.01 pm on July 20. Even the timing has been kept to reflect effective price of the phone,” the source told PTI.
Under the Monsoon Hungama offer, customers using any feature phone of any brand can exchange it with new JioPhone for an effective price of Rs 501. This offer will reduce the effective cost of JioPhone from Rs 1,500 to Rs 510.
There is a Special JioPhone Recharge Plan of Rs 594 under the Monsoon Hungama scheme which offers unlimited voice calls and data. This plan offers 90GB data (0.5GB data/day) over a period of 6 months. Customers will also get a special exchange bonus of 6GB data voucher, worth Rs 101 under the Monsoon Hungama exchange offer.
Apart from this, there is a separate plan of Rs 99 per month with unlimited free voice calling, 0.5GB data per day and 300 SMS for 28 days.
Reliance Jio announced the JioPhone 2 feature phone at the 41st annual general meeting (AGM) in Mumbai at an introductory price of Rs 2,999.JioPhone 2 will be in the market from August 15.
After availing the JioPhone Monsoon Hungama offer, users will have to choose a prepaid recharge plan of either Rs 49 or Rs 153, both with a validity of 28 days. The Rs 49 Prepaid plan offers 1GB of 4G data along with unlimited voice calling for a period of 28 days while the Rs 153 prepaid plan offers 1.5GB of 4G data, unlimited voice calls (local, STD and roaming) and 100 SMS per day.
In terms of specifications, the JioPhone features a 2.4-inch QVGA display with a screen resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. The phone will be powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core Processor which will either Spreadtrum SPRD 9820A or QC8905 along with Mali 400 GPU. The phone is backed by a 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.
On the camera front, the device comes loaded with a 2-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel front camera. It is juiced up by a 2000mAh battery, which the company claims to give a Talk time of 12 hours and Standby time of 15 days. On the connectivity front, it supports 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.1 with BLE, GPS, NFC and Micro USB 2.0.
