Xiaomi will launch the entry-level Redmi 8A smartphone on September 25 in India. Now ahead of the launch, the Redmi 8A has been confirmed to come with Type C port and Fast charging support.
The new features have been confirmed by Xiaomi India Managing Director and Global VP Manu Jain. In a Twitter post, he said that “1st ever look of beautiful #Redmi8A! When we said the #Redmi 8A would have #Dumdaar features, we meant it. It will come with #TypeC port and fast charging support. Probably the ONLY phone in the price segment to have Type-C! RT if excited. #Xiaomi #DumdaarRedmi8A”.
In the post, it has also been claimed that Redmi 8A is probably the only phone in the price segment to have Type-C. Redmi 8A will be successor of Redmi 7A smartphone launched in India in July this year and it will likely to be priced under Rs 8,000 in India.
Alongside the features, the post also carries a teaser image of the Redmi 8A which only shows the rear of the phone. It shows that the smartphone will come with a single rear camera with LED flash light.
An earlier teaser confirmed that Redmi 8A will come with a notch display. It will be the first time that the Redmi A-series smartphone will come with a waterdrop notch display.
The Redmi 8A was spotted on TENAA recently which revealed the full spec-sheet of the upcoming smartphone. The Redmi 8A is expected to feature a 6.2-inch HD+ Dot notch display with a Resolution of 1520 × 720 pixels. The device will be loaded with a single 12-megapixel rear camera with an LED flash and an 8-megapixel sensor on the front for selfies.
It will be powered by a 2.0GHz Octa-core Processor and will be available in 2GB+16GB, 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB configurations. The device will also support expandable storage of up to 512GB through a microSD card. The Redmi 8A will run on Android 9 Pie with MIUI 10 on top and is expected to come with a 5,000mAh battery.
The device will come with 4G VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, GLONASS, Audio Jack and FM Radio for connectivity. It will be available in grey, purple, green, pink, blue, red, white and black colours. It weighs 188 grams and measures 156.3×75.4×9.4 mm.
