Pixel 2, Pixel 2 launching today and more: What to expect from Google event

The company is holding an event in San Fransico where it will unveil the latest Pixel series along with Google Mini, Google Pixelbook and a new Daydream VR headset.

Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL has been doing rounds on the internet for a while now. But it seems that Google is finally all set to launch the next generation of Pixel devices today in a couple of hours. The company is holding an event in San Fransico where it will unveil the latest Pixel series along with Google Mini, Google Pixelbook, and a new Daydream VR headset. The event can be live streamedthrough its official YouTube channel and it will begin at 9:00 AM PDT, which means that Indian users will be able to live streamthe launch event at 9:30 PM.

This year’s Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are rumored to be manufactured by HTC and LG respectively. Further, the latest pricing leak suggests that the Pixel 2 will be priced somewhere around $649 (Rs 41,758) while the Pixel 2 XL will cost about $849 (Rs 55,482) for the 64GB variant.

Google is rumored to bring the bezel-less design to its line-up this year. However, the regular Pixel 2 is likely to sport a 4.97-inch Full display while the Pixel 2 XL will sport a 5.99-inch Quad HD display.

As far as design is concerned, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are expected to come with the similar design as seen in the last generation. There will be a combination of glass and metal body at the rear panel. The right houses volume controls and power on/off button, while at the left, there is a slot. The bottom houses a USB Type-C port, while at the back of the devices, there is a fingerprint sensor.

According to various rumors, Google is also planning to add stereo speakers at the cost of 3.5mm jack, which means it will sport USB Type-C compatible headphone slot. Further, the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 will be water and dust resistance.

On the specification front, the devicesare reported to be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor clocked at 2.4GHz. The devices will run on the latest Oreo and are expected to come with 4GB of and 64/128GB of internal space.

The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL,may come with a single camera at the back along with dual tone flash. As per the leaks, the smartphones are predicted to come with a 12-megapixel super motion sensor on the rear side and a 7-megapixel front-facing camera.

This year, latest Pixel devices will not be the only attraction. The search engine giant is reported to unveil new Chromebook known as Pixelbook, a mini version of Google Home and a new Daydream VR headset at the event.

Starting with the new Pixelbook, the Chromebook will be available in the 128GB variant which will cost at $1,199(Rs 78,354), while the 256GB and 512GB storage options will be available for $1399(Rs 91,424) and $1749(Rs 1,14,297) respectively. Further, the Chromebook will come with a pressure sensitive and with tilt support known as Pixelbook Pen. The Pixelbook Pen is reported to come with a price tag of $99(Rs 6000 approx).

Coming to the Google Home Mini, the smart speaker will be available in Chalk, Charcoal and Coral colors. The speaker will not be wireless and it will help the user to schedule, set reminders, and provide other Home-related inquiries. The speaker will come loaded with Google Assistant and will bear a price tag of $49(Rs 3000 approx).

Lastly, the new Daydream VR headset will come with a price tag of $99(Rs 6000 approx). The headset will be available in Charcoal, Fog, and Coral color options, though there is no information available about the product at the moment.
