Google Pixel 2, Pixel 2XL with Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 SoC expected to launch on October 5

The Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will be powered by the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 processor.

It is a well-known fact that Google is working on the second generation of its Pixel lineup, dubbed as Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. Both of them are subjected to various leaks and the new one suggests that smartphones might be unveiled on October 5.

According to a tweet by a well-known tipster, Evan Blass, both the smartphones might get launched on the above-mentioned date. Further, the tweet reveals that the smartphones will be powered by the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 processor, which is in line with previous rumours. The previous report highlighted that the processor will come with higher clock speed for both CPU and GPU as compared to Snapdragon 835. The will be faster and will come with some battery improvements, the report further added. One can also expect better quality photos with Qualcomm’s upcoming chipset.

Previously, as per an FCC website, the Pixel 2 will be made by HTC, while the Pixel 2 XL will be manufactured by LG. The smaller Pixel 2 smartphone made by HTC will feature front-facing BoomSound stereo speakers along with the EdgeSense feature. On the other hand, the bigger variant by LG is expected to feature narrow bezels, similar to LG G6. Prior to the launch of the next Pixel phones, Google had slashed the prices of the Pixel and Pixel XL phones and is even giving away a Daydream headset for free.

Recollecting some key specifications, larger Taimen or Google Pixel 2 XL will come loaded with a 5.99-inch Quad display, which will feature an panel provided by LG, as per a report by XDA Developers. The smartphone is expected to sport a smaller bezel as compared to its predecessor, the Google Pixel XL and will come with a 4GB of RAM.

There will be a 128GB storage model, however, one could expect different storage configurations as well. It is reported to feature a single camera setup at the rear panel coupled with a dual-tone flash. Lastly, the smartphone is reported to sport a similar two-tone glass and metal design, though the glass window will be placed near the top.

Coming to smaller Walleye, the smartphone will feature a similar 4.97-inch Full HD display and will sport a similar design language as we have seen in original Pixel. Google is also planning to add stereo speakers at the cost of 3.5mm jack, which means it will sport USB Type-C compatible headphone slot. The phone is reported to feature 4GB of and there will be a 64GB storage variant as well. One can also expect different storage models as well.
