Android Q Beta on the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro is available through images that can be sideloaded like an OTA Update. OnePlus advises Beta users to back up their data before proceeding with the upgrade as the device disk will need to be formatted.

OnePlus is also offering rollback OTAs for users to return to stable software, if they’re disappointed with the performance of the beta builds. The beta builds already have a list of issues including Ambient Display, stability, navigation gestures, recovery mode, SMS in VoLTE and app compatibility.

In order to sideload the Android Q Beta images, users will have to ensure that their OnePlus device has at least 30 percent battery left and has 3GB of free space in order for the update to be installed. After downloading the required package, users will need to head over to Settings > System and tap on the menu icon and hit “Local upgrade”. Select the downloaded package and click on “upgrade” to install Android Q on your phone.
